What is an electric assist bicycle?
Electric assist bicycles, also known as e-bikes, are bicycles equipped with a motor that provides assistance to the rider's pedalling effort. The motor provides assistance when the rider pedals, making it easier to tackle hills and ride longer distances with less effort.
It’s like having a gentle push as you pedal, enhancing your biking experience.
Our e-bikes are legally certified for road use in Japan.
Do I need prior biking experience?
Previous experience with electric bikes is not required, but you should be comfortable riding a regular bicycle.
Our tours are designed to accommodate riders with varying levels of experience.
What fitness level do I need?
The electric assist bicycle make it very easy to go uphill with minimum effort.
If you are uncertain about your fitness level, feel free to contact me in advance.
Can children participate in your tours?
Children cannot participate in the tours if they are less than 150cm in height.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
We do not have or offer infants/child bicycle or seats.
Are there any weight or height restrictions for riders?
Our bicycles are rated for a minimum height of 150cm (4.9ft), and a maximum weight of 100kg (220lb).
What do I need to bring?
- ID (driver’s license, passport, residence card etc.)
- Sunglasses
- Water
- Sun cream
- Comfortable clothes (no skirts or pants with wide hems)
- Athletic or sturdy shoes (no sandals or high heels)
- Backpack, Small to carry water
- Rain wear (in case of sudden rain)
- Insect repellent
Are helmets provided, or should I bring my own?
Yes helmets are provided for the tour. And you must wear it while riding the bicycle.
Are your tours suitable for solo travellers?
Please note that the tour requires a minimum of 2 people to operate, if you are a solo traveller, contact us so we can see if we can arrange a spot for you.
How far in advance should I book a tour?
You can book from the day before. During the busy period, spots may fill quickly.
Can I rent an electric assist bicycle for self-guided exploration?
Our bicycles are only available as part of the tour.
How easy is it from Tokyo?
From Tokyo Station, you can reach Echigo-Yuzawa Station as fast as 70 minutes on the Joetsu Shinkansen.
If you have a JR Rail Pass, JR Tokyo Wide Pass, JR East Tohoku Area Pass, or JR East Nagano/Niigata Area Pass, your travel costs should be covered.
Is transportation provided to the starting point of the tour?
We do not provide transportation. The train and local hotels should be able to bring you to the train station easily..
What happens in case of bad Forecast?
In the event of unsafe weather conditions (typhoons, warnings, etc.), we will contact you to cancel the tour. In such cases, no cancellation fee will be charged.
In the case of light rain or showers, we will continue the tour.
What if the weather get bad?
We are in the mountain, the weather can change quickly. If the weather change to bad weather (torrential rain, typhoon) for too long, we may need to stop the tour. Please bring rain gear in your backpack in case.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you wish to cancel your reservation, please contact us by 17:00 (5:00 p.m). on the day before the date.
If you cancel on the day of the event without notifying us or do not show up, you will be charged the full amount of the fee.
